Afghanistan’s exports drop by $46 million over two months

KABUL — Afghanistan’s exports have declined by $46 million over the past two months, according to a report by the Taliban-run National Statistics and Information Authority.

The report states that Afghanistan’s export volume reached $144.2 million between February 10 and March 10, 2025, marking a significant drop compared to previous months. In January 2025, exports totaled $162.2 million, reflecting an $18 million decrease from February.

The downward trend had already begun in January, when exports fell by $28 million compared to December 2024.

According to the report, Afghanistan’s primary export destinations were India, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates. The country’s main exported goods included dried and fresh fruits, vegetables, medicinal plants, and minerals.

While imports had increased by $55.7 million in December 2024, the trend reversed in February, with a decline in imported goods.

Afghanistan’s largest import partners were Iran, China, and Pakistan, with petroleum products, machinery, vehicles, wheat, flour, and textiles among the most imported commodities.
