176 migrant families return home as deportations by Pakistan, Iran continue

At least 176 Afghan migrant families deported by Pakistan and Iran returned to Afghanistan on Thursday, according to Taliban-run state media.

The Bakhtar News Agency reported that 10 families re-entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing, while 36 families crossed via Spin Boldak. Another 32 families returned through the Silk Road crossing, and 98 others entered the country at the Islam Qala crossing.

The returns come amid intensified efforts by both Pakistan and Iran to deport Afghan migrants. According to the United Nations, Pakistan has repatriated approximately 600,000 Afghan migrants since implementing a policy to deport all foreign nationals residing in the country without legal documentation.

Afghan migrants in Iran have previously expressed concerns about mistreatment by the Iranian government and the local population.
