Pakistan deports 953 Afghan migrants as deportations persist

As Pakistan continues the deportation of undocumented Afghan migrants, 953 were sent back to Afghanistan on Tuesday, according to the Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees.

The deportations included 582 people who entered Pakistan from Spin Boldak and 372 from the Torkham border town.

Additionally, the ministry noted that 192 families, either deported or voluntarily returned, re-entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala and Pul-e-Abrisham border crossings in the western provinces of Herat and Nimroz, respectively.

Pakistan began deporting undocumented migrants in October 2023. According to United Nations agencies, over 600,000 Afghan migrants have been deported so far.
