Kyrgyzstan backs Afghanistan’s access to commonwealth of independent states market, minister says

Kyrgyzstan’s minister of economy, leading a private sector delegation, met with Taliban officials and Afghan private sector representatives in Kabul on Thursday.

According to a statement from the Taliban-run Ministry of Economy, Daniyar Imanaliev expressed Kyrgyzstan’s support for Afghanistan’s entry into the Commonwealth of Independent States’ market.

Kyrgyzstan, as a member of the group, advocated the formation of a contact group to boost trade between Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan, he said.

During the meeting, the Taliban’s Acting Minister of Economy Nooruddin Azizi highlighted Afghanistan’s interest in transporting goods through Kazakhstan to China at reduced costs.

Azizi noted that Afghanistan conducts trade valued at $1 billion with each Central Asian country.
