The Speenghar Region defeated the Amo Region by 84 runs on Thursday to win the 2026 e& Regional List A Tournament, capping a dominant campaign with victory in the tournament final in Nangarhar.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Speenghar posted 277 for 8 in its 50 overs, led by centuries from captain Darwish Rasooli and Ismat Alam.

Rasooli scored 101, his second consecutive century of the tournament and the 10th List A hundred of his career, while Alam struck his maiden List A century, finishing with 100.

The pair’s partnership helped anchor the innings despite a strong bowling performance from Amo all-rounder Gulbadin Naib, who claimed 5 wickets for 65 runs.

Chasing 278 for victory, Amo was bowled out for 193 in 38 overs as Speenghar’s bowlers dismantled the batting lineup.

Arab Gul led the attack with 3 wickets for 32 runs, while Zahir Khan took 2 for 27 and Ismat Alam claimed 2 for 28. Mohammad Ibrahim added 2 wickets for 34 runs, and Zubaid Akbari chipped in with 1 for 21 as Speenghar sealed the title.

The victory completed a remarkable tournament for Rasooli, one of Afghanistan’s most consistent domestic batters. During the final, he also surpassed 3,000 runs in List A cricket, reaching the milestone in his 71st innings. He now averages 54.09 in the format and has scored 10 centuries and 19 half-centuries.

The final brought together the two strongest teams of the tournament. Speenghar and Amo had finished atop the standings after the round-robin stage, advancing to the championship match ahead of Bost, Band-e-Amir and Mis-e-Ainak.

Amo entered the final after securing qualification with a decisive victory over Band-e-Amir, powered by a 161-run innings from Imran Mir — the second-highest individual score in the history of Afghanistan’s Regional List A tournaments.

But in the title match, Speenghar proved too strong, with contributions from both its batting and bowling units helping secure the championship of Afghanistan’s premier domestic 50-over competition.

The e& Regional List A Tournament serves as one of the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s leading domestic competitions and is a key pathway for identifying players for Afghanistan A and the national team.
