Afghanistan wins eight medals at wrestling championship in Egypt

Afghanistan’s national wrestling team claimed eight medals and secured first place in the team rankings at the United World Wrestling Championship in Alexandria, Egypt.

The Afghan athletes earned two gold, three silver, and three bronze medals in individual competitions, showcasing strong performances across several weight categories.

The team was awarded the overall championship trophy, marking a significant achievement on the international stage.

According to event organizers, the competition, hosted by the Egyptian Wrestling Federation in cooperation with United World Wrestling and the Afghanistan Wrestling Federation, began on October 9 and runs through October 14 in the coastal city of Alexandria.

Pahlawani, a style blending martial arts and cultural tradition, has long been practiced across Central and South Asia. Afghanistan has participated in multiple international tournaments in the style, often performing well against strong regional rivals.
