A polio vaccination campaign began Monday in the provinces of Kandahar, Helmand, Farah and Herat, the Polio Free Afghanistan said.
According to the World Health Organization, eight new cases of polio have been confirmed in Pakistan this year and four in Afghanistan.
The campaign comes as the Taliban continue to block house-to-house polio immunization drives.
