Two separate traffic accidents in eastern and northern Afghanistan left at least 13 people dead and four others injured on Monday, local sources said.
On the Kabul–Jalalabad highway, a Land Cruiser collided with a sedan vehicle in an area near Kabul’s Surobi district and Laghman’s Qarghayi district. Two people were killed, including the sedan driver, and three others were injured. Taliban officials in Laghman have not commented.
In Badakhshan province’s Darayem district, a speeding sedan veered off the road, killing 11 people and injuring one, a Taliban official confirmed. The victims included a woman, three children and several men. Local sources said seven of the dead were from one family.
Taliban officials blamed the crash on reckless driving.
