Around 130 people were poisoned during a charity meal in eastern Afghanistan’s Khost province, local sources said on Thursday.
The incident occurred in Shamsi village, located in the Zazi Maidan district, according to the sources.
Mostaghfar Gurbaz, a spokesman for the Taliban governor in Khost, confirmed the incident and said the condition of those affected has since improved.
The cause of the poisoning remains unknown.
Taliban officials in Khost said an investigation has been launched to determine how the incident occurred.
