Bost Region wins National T20 Cup after record chase in Kunduz

Bost Region won the 2026 National T20 Cup on Wednesday after defeating Mis-e-Ainak Region by five wickets in the tournament final in Kunduz.

Chasing a target of 212, Bost Region reached 217 for 5 in 18 overs, completing one of the highest successful run chases of the tournament.

Noman Shah led the chase with an unbeaten 119, scoring a century in the final after recording three consecutive half-centuries during the competition. Najib Zadran added 43 runs in support as Bost secured the championship.

Earlier, Mis-e-Ainak Region posted 211 for 4 in 20 overs after strong batting performances from Emal Shaheen, who remained unbeaten on 73, Ijaz Ahmadzai with 43 not out, Asghar Atal with 39 and Khalid Taniwal with 34.

Bost Region had won the toss and elected to bowl first.

The National T20 Cup, organized by the Afghanistan Cricket Board and sponsored by SuperCola, brought together regional teams from across the country and was held in Kunduz.

The tournament is considered one of Afghanistan’s main domestic cricket competitions and serves as a platform for emerging players seeking selection to national and franchise-level teams.

The tournament is held at a time that women are banned from all types of sports in the country under Taliban rule.
