At least five people, including children, were killed in airstrikes carried out by Pakistani forces in Barmal District of Afghanistan’s eastern Paktika Province, local sources said.
The death toll is expected to rise as reports from the remote area continue to emerge, sources added.
According to the sources, the strikes also destroyed several homes, leaving residents displaced and fearing further attacks.
The Taliban’s spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, did not respond to requests for comment regarding the incident.
The reported airstrikes are the latest in a series of cross-border tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban.
Both nations have accused each other of harboring militants who threaten their respective security, with violence frequently spilling across the shared border.
