Taliban to establish provincial committees to address border residents’ issues

Hamidullah Fetrat, Deputy Spokesman for the Taliban, on Sunday announced that provincial committees will be established across Afghanistan to address the “problems” of residents in border areas, following a directive from the group’s leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada.

Fetrat stated that these committees will provide essential services to border residents, including “religious and modern education, healthcare, communication, roads, and access to drinking water.” He emphasized that the committees will identify and address the needs of people living in these regions.

Taliban also indicated that the Ministry of Finance has been instructed to allocate the necessary budget to support the work of these committees.

This move follows an earlier announcement from Pakistan during the Taliban’s initial period in power, which indicated an agreement to create a committee to address border issues.
