A traffic accident on Thursday night in western Afghanistan claimed the lives of six people, according to local sources. The incident occurred on a key highway connecting Herat City with the border town of Islam Qala.

The collision took place in the Raj area when a Corolla vehicle collided with a truck.

Most of the victims were passengers in the Corolla, the sources said.

Traffic accidents in Afghanistan have recently resulted in numerous fatalities. On Tuesday, July 16, a similar accident in Parwan Province claimed 17 lives.

Authorities attribute the frequent accidents to poor road conditions and driver negligence.
