Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, held discussions with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar regarding the situation of Afghan refugees.
Dar said on X that the “status of Afghan refugees” was the main focus of their meeting.
In a related post, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said that Grandi expressed concern over the conditions faced by Afghan refugees and urged for improved facilities to be provided to them.
This meeting comes amidst Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to expel Afghan refugees. For over a year, Pakistan has been implementing a policy of “forced repatriation” of Afghan refugees.
Currently, Pakistan expels hundreds of Afghan migrants daily under this policy.
