Asian Games: Afghanistan’s Mohsen Rezaee wins bronze

Mohsen Rezaee, representing Afghanistan in Taekwondo, won a bronze medal in the 58 kg weight category with three wins and a defeat in the China Asian Games.

He faced opponents from Tajikistan, Japan, Kazakhstan, and South Korea.

Rezaee displayed remarkable prowess by defeating his counterparts from Tajikistan, Japan, and Kazakhstan. However, he was unable to overcome the challenge posed by his South Korean rival.

Reflecting on his performance, Rezaee revealed that he had sustained a broken finger during the fourth match, which impacted his ability to deliver a top-notch performance.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Afghanistan’s sports contingent at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, as it represents the first medal earned by the nation in this competition.

In other Taekwondo action, Bizhan Sadrzada, another prominent national athlete, is set to compete Tuesday against Mohammad Jon Harifi from Tajikistan.
