Afghanistan Cricket Board on Thursday announced a 15-player Afghanistan A squad for a tri-nation one-day series against Sri Lanka A and India A later this month.
The tournament will be held in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, from June 9 to June 21 and will feature the three teams competing in a double round-robin format before a final between the top two sides.
Imran Mir has been named captain of the Afghanistan A team, which includes wicketkeepers Noor Rahman and Mohammad Ishaq, as well as Hassan Eisakhil, Khalid Taniwal, Ijaz Ahmadzai and Baheer Shah Mahboob.
The squad also features Faisal Khan Shinozada, Farmanullah Safi, Shams Ur Rahman, Khalil Gurbaz, Zahir Khan Pakteen, Faridoon Dawoodzai, Mohammad Ibrahim and Abdullah Ahmadzai.
The series will begin on June 9 with Sri Lanka A facing India A. Afghanistan A will open its campaign on June 11 against India A before taking on Sri Lanka A on June 13.
The teams will meet twice during the group stage, with the final scheduled for June 21 at the same venue.
The tournament is expected to provide valuable international experience for emerging players from all three countries and serve as a platform for selectors to assess talent for future senior national team assignments.
