Sources told Amu TV that Taliban detained Zuhal Fazel, a women’s rights activist, in Kabul on Sunday, sources said.
According to sources, Taliban members raided Fazel’s home near the Baraki Roundabout in Kabul.
According to the sources, Taliban members entered Fazel’s house and took her away. It was not immediately clear where she was taken or what charges, if any, she may face.
Taliban have not commented on the reported arrest.
Women’s rights activists in Afghanistan have faced increasing pressure and detention since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021 and imposed sweeping restrictions on women’s education, employment and public life.
Rights groups say several women activists have been detained in recent years after organizing protests or speaking out against the restrictions, often with little information released about their whereabouts or legal status.
