Afghanistan’s consulate in Karachi, which is administered by Taliban-appointed diplomats, said on Monday that 105 Afghan citizens had been released from prisons in Pakistan.

In a statement posted on X, the consulate said the group included two women and 10 children. It said they had been detained for about a month because of what it described as security-related issues along routes in Sindh and Baluchistan Provinces.

According to the statement, the released detainees entered Afghanistan on Monday, through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar Province.

The announcement comes amid criticism from some observers over what they describe as insufficient attention to the situation of Afghan citizens detained abroad.
