The International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Monday that Pakistan will take part in all of its scheduled matches at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, including a high-profile group match against India on Feb. 15 in Colombo.

In a statement, the ICC said discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were held as part of broader engagement aimed at ensuring cooperation and the smooth running of the tournament.

“The dialogue between ICC and PCB took place as part of a broader engagement with both parties recognising the need for constructive dealings and being united, committed and purposeful in their aspirations to serve the best interests of the game with integrity, neutrality and cooperation,” the ICC said.

The governing body added that all member boards had agreed to respect their participation commitments and take the necessary steps to ensure the success of the tournament.

The ICC said it had earlier taken note of a statement by the Pakistani government indicating that Pakistan’s participation in the tournament could be restricted to selected matches, but the latest announcement confirms the team’s full involvement.

Pakistan will play the United States in Colombo on Feb. 10 before facing India five days later. The team began its campaign with a three-wicket victory over the Netherlands.

The ICC announcement followed a meeting involving the ICC, the PCB and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The ICC said Bangladesh would not face penalties for missing the tournament and would be given the opportunity to host a future ICC event ahead of the 2031 Men’s Cricket World Cup, subject to standard hosting requirements.

“With respect to Bangladesh, the ICC reiterated its continued facilitation of growth in one of cricket’s most vibrant markets,” the ICC said, adding that Bangladesh’s non-participation in the 2026 tournament would not have long-term consequences for the sport in the country.

The T20 World Cup 2026 is expected to draw significant global attention, particularly for matches involving long-time rivals India and Pakistan.
