Zimbabwe U19 edge Afghanistan U19 by 19 runs in Tri-Nation Youth ODI

Zimbabwe’s under-19 side beat Afghanistan by 19 runs on Wednesday in the Tri-Nation Youth One-Day International series after dismissing the visitors for 166 in pursuit of a target of 186.

Zimbabwe were bowled out for 185 in 47.3 overs in their first innings. Dhruv Patel top-scored with 60 off 74 balls, while Afghanistan shared the wickets among several bowlers, led by Salam Khan Ahmadzai (4 for 32) and Hafeez Zadran (3 for 48). Nasratullah Nooristani (1 for 16) and Uzairullah Khan Niazi (1 for 31) also chipped in.

In reply, Afghanistan struggled to build sustained partnerships and were bowled out for 166 in 40.5 overs. Mahboob Khan led the batting with 49 off 80 balls, while Osman Sadaat added 35 off 45. Zimbabwe’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the chase to secure the win.

The match was Afghanistan’s third outing in the Tri-Nation Youth ODI Series 2025, which also features Zimbabwe and Pakistan. Afghanistan are next scheduled to face Pakistan U19 as the round-robin stage of the tournament continues.
