Afghanistan’s national men’s volleyball team has advanced to the final of the Central Asia Championship after defeating host nation Bangladesh in a high-stakes semifinal match on Monday evening in Dhaka.
The Afghan squad claimed victory in three of four sets, winning the match 3–1 in a dominant performance that has drawn praise from team officials and fans alike. The win marks Afghanistan’s third consecutive victory in the tournament, having already bested Nepal and the Maldives in earlier rounds.
The championship features six teams from across the region, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Turkmenistan, Nepal, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka. The final match will see Afghanistan face Turkmenistan on Tuesday in what is expected to be a closely contested game.
The Afghanistan Volleyball Federation praised the team’s performance, calling it a “significant milestone” in the country’s sporting achievements. Despite limited resources and a challenging domestic environment, Afghan athletes have continued to make their presence felt on the international stage.
