Internet service for all mobile networks in Herat province was shut down overnight and restored by Tuesday morning, local sources told Amu.

The outage began around midnight and lasted until dawn, the sources said. Taliban have not commented on the temporary disruption.

In recent days, Taliban have also cut fiber-optic and Wi-Fi services in Herat, part of wider restrictions that have shut down fiber internet in at least 16 other provinces.

Local Taliban officials in some provinces have said the shutdowns were aimed at preventing “immorality.”
