The Torkham border crossing between Afghanistan and Pakistan reopened Tuesday after being closed the previous day due to internet service issues, according to the Taliban governor’s office in Nangarhar.
It was the latest in a series of closures at Torkham, which has repeatedly been shut to passenger traffic and trade in recent years.
Residents, travelers and traders on both sides of the border said such disruptions cause serious hardship. Traders noted that even a one-day closure results in heavy financial losses, costing them thousands of dollars.
Business owners called for a permanent solution to keep the crossing open.
