Kabul’s Jinnah Hospital to be relocated, sources say

Talban have begun relocating equipment from the Mohammad Ali Jinnah Hospital in western Kabul, raising concerns among residents about access to health care, local sources said.

The facility, located in Dasht-e-Barchi, is the only public hospital serving the area, which is home to hundreds of thousands of people, many from the Hazara minority. Residents said its closure, even temporarily, would severely restrict medical services in a community that already struggles with limited health care.

It remains unclear which government body is overseeing the transfer or when the hospital will reopen at its new location. One source said the move was prompted by road construction near the existing site.

Jinnah Hospital was built with Pakistani funding in 2007 at a cost of more than $24 million and inaugurated in 2019. It was named in honor of Pakistan’s founding leader, Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
