Afghanistan’s national cricket team clinched a nail-biting four-run victory over the United Arab Emirates on Friday, securing their third consecutive win in the UAE Tri-Nation Series.
The match, held on September 5, 2025, saw Afghanistan post a total of 170 for 4 in 20 overs, before restricting the UAE to 166 for 5. It came down to the final over, where Afghan bowlers, including Fareed Ahmad, held their nerves to defend 17 runs and seal the win.
“It was taken to the deep,” the Afghanistan Cricket Board said in a post on X, applauding the team’s poise under pressure.
Top-order batter Ibrahim Zadran led the way with 48 runs off 35 balls, including three fours and three sixes, at a strike rate of 137.14. He was named player of the match for his performance, continuing a streak of consistent contributions throughout the series.
