Afghanistan names 22-man preliminary squad for UAE training camp

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced a 22-member preliminary squad for a training and preparation camp in the United Arab Emirates ahead of the Tri-Nation Series and the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025.

Star leg-spinner Rashid Khan will captain the side, with wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz named vice-captain. The squad includes experienced players such as Mohammad Nabi, Karim Janat, Gulbadin Naib, Mujeeb Zadran and Naveen-ul-Haq, along with a mix of emerging talents.

The camp will run for two weeks in the UAE before the team’s participation in the Tri-Nation Series featuring Afghanistan, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. The tournament will be followed by the Asia Cup, which begins Sept. 9 in the UAE.
