The Qatari government expressed deep concern on Sunday over the worsening regional situation following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, calling for an immediate halt to military operations and a return to diplomatic dialogue.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar said it “regrets the deterioration of the situation” and emphasized the urgent need to resolve tensions through peaceful means. The statement follows Trump’s confirmation that American warplanes had struck three nuclear sites in Iran late Saturday.
Qatar, which described Iran as a “sisterly” nation, warned that continued escalation could have “catastrophic consequences at both the regional and international levels.” It urged all parties to exercise “wisdom and restraint” to prevent further violence.
“The peoples of the region — already burdened by conflict and its tragic humanitarian toll — cannot endure more,” the ministry said.
Qatar also reaffirmed its full support for regional and international diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving disputes and consolidating peace and stability across the Middle East.
The statement came as Gulf nations watched with growing unease as tensions between Israel, Iran and now the United States risk spiraling into a wider conflict. While Qatar has maintained relations with both Washington and Tehran, it has consistently advocated for dialogue over confrontation in regional disputes.
