Taliban publicly flogged a woman in Sar-e Pul province on Sunday for alleged adultery, according to a statement.
The woman received 39 lashes, according to a statement from Taliban-run supreme court. In addition to the flogging, she was sentenced to six months in prison.
Despite repeated calls from the international community and human rights organizations to end corporal punishment, the Taliban has continued to publicly flog individuals, including women, across various provinces.
According to findings by Amu, more than 611 people, including 110 women, have been flogged by the Taliban over the past three years.
