Pakistan, Iran deport 240 Afghan migrant families in one day

More than 240 Afghan migrant families deported by Iran and Pakistan returned to Afghanistan on Friday, according to Taliban-run refugees ministry.

The migrants returning from Iran were either forcibly deported or left voluntarily.

The ministry detailed that 55 families returned via the Silk Bridge border in Nimroz, while 82 families entered through the Islam Qala route in Herat.

Additionally, 79 families crossed back into Afghanistan through the Torkham border, and 30 families through the Spin Boldak crossing, all deported by Pakistan.

According to a weekly report from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), 34,000 Afghan migrants have returned from Iran and Pakistan. Pakistan initiated the second phase of its policy to deport Afghan migrants in mid-April this year.
