Taliban claims ‘success’ in fight against Daesh

Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in a meeting with an Indonesian delegation led by Mohammad Yusuf Kalla, head of the Indonesian Red Crescent and Mosques Council, claimed that Taliban has been “successful” in combating Daesh and drug trafficking in Afghanistan.

Taliban-run Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the Indonesian delegation visited Kabul to assess the situation in Afghanistan.

During the meeting, Muttaqi also expressed the Taliban’s desire for bilateral relations with Indonesia in political, economic, and trade sectors.

Muttaqi reiterated that the Taliban would not allow Afghan territory to be used against any other country.

This comes amid a series of recent deadly attacks in Afghanistan, for which Daesh has claimed responsibility.

The latest incident occurred last month when Daesh claimed responsibility for an attack on tourists in Bamiyan, resulting in six deaths.
