TEHRAN, Iran — The Iranian Railway Authority announced its readiness to transport Afghan transit goods to Turkey, according to a recent statement. The authority stated it could move 10 wagons currently stalled at the Shemtigh border.
Iranian media reported that the wagons have been awaiting transit for seven days due to a lack of authorization from the Afghanistan Railway Development Consortium.
The first Afghanistan-Turkey transit train entered Iran on April 20 but was unable to leave due to the absence of the necessary permits.
Previously, Morteza Jafari, the Deputy for Operations and Commerce at the Iranian Railway, countered claims by the consortium that the Afghan transit wagons had not entered Iran.
