Afghan MMA fighter Basharat remains undefeated in UFC Fight Night bout

Undefeated bantamweight mixed martial arts fighter Javid Basharat beat Brazil’s Mateus Mendonça in Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 67.

The Afghan-born British fighter has, along with his brother, Farid, been making waves in the sport. However, Mendonça represented perhaps his toughest challenge to date.

Although challenged significantly at several points, Basharat seemed to have won all three rounds in a highly entertaining fight so there were no surprises when the judges read the scorecards. Only one judge scored one round for Mendonça. ‘The Snow Leopard’ stayed undefeated, now moving to 14-0 overall and 3-0 in the UFC.

In his interview after the fight, Basharat called out top-15 contender Chris Gutierrez, which seems to be a realistic matchup for him and a great bout for the fans.

Basharat is a 27-year-old undefeated bantamweight who earned a UFC contract with a third-round submission win on Dana White Contender Series in 2021. Then, he tacked on two decision wins in 2022 to bring his professional record to 13-0.
