Gunfire involving both light and heavy weapons was heard overnight in areas surrounding Kabul’s international airport, local sources said on Monday.
The shooting began late Sunday and continued until about 2:40 a.m. Monday, the sources added.
The cause of the gunfire was not immediately clear, and Taliban had not publicly commented on the incident as of Monday morning.
The incident follows similar reports of gunfire in recent nights in Kabul’s 9th and 10th police districts.
Some Kabul residents said the repeated shootings have disrupted nighttime calm and raised concerns among residents.
Gunfire has periodically been reported in various parts of the capital city since in recent years. In many cases, Taliban have not publicly explained the cause of the incidents.
