Industrial exhibition opens in Afghanistan’s Helmand province

A three-day industrial exhibition opened on Saturday in Lashkargah, the center of the southern province of Helmand, aimed at promoting domestic production and expanding commercial cooperation.

The exhibition, titled “Our Industry, Our Pride,” features around 50 booths showcasing agricultural products, food items, pharmaceuticals and construction materials, according to a statement from the Taliban-run Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The ministry said manufacturers and traders from Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Kandahar, Paktika and several other provinces are participating in the event.

The exhibition is being organised by the Haqmal Company and Sikaram Ahmadi Marketing Services, the statement said.

Investors have long complained about structural challenges facing the industrial sector, including limited access to reliable electricity, inadequate industrial space, high taxes and other operating costs, which they say continue to constrain growth despite efforts to boost domestic production.
