KABUL — The Torkham border crossing between Afghanistan and Pakistan remained closed for a second consecutive day on Sunday, halting all movement of people and goods, according to sources.

The Taliban’s police command in Nangarhar province had previously stated that Pakistani border guards shut the crossing early Saturday, Feb. 22, without providing an official explanation.

However, sources indicate that the closure was triggered by a dispute over the Taliban’s construction of a new border post near the crossing, which Pakistani authorities opposed.

The prolonged shutdown has left traders and travelers stranded, with many expressing frustration over the disruption.

Videos obtained by Amu TV show dozens of people waiting late into the evening, hoping to cross.

Passengers said they received no prior notice about the closure, adding to the difficulties faced by those relying on the vital trade route.
