KABUL — At least seven people, including four women and three children, were killed in a traffic accident in Zabul province, a Taliban official said.

The crash occurred in the Pul-e Sangi area along the Kandahar highway, when a trailer truck collided with a passenger vehicle, according to Zabihullah Johar, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Zabul police command.

Three others, including two women, were injured and transported to the provincial hospital for treatment, he added.

Taliban officials also reported that the truck driver fled the scene following the accident but has since been arrested.
