Afghanistan has exported 6,368 tons of tomatoes from Kandahar so far this year, according to the Taliban-run Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock.
The ministry’s statement noted that these exports took place during the first six months of the Afghan calendar year, with Pakistan being the primary market.
The volume of tomato exports from Kandahar has increased by 2.94 percent compared to the same period last year.
This comes as Afghan traders report facing significant obstacles in exporting goods, including high tariffs.
They cite a lack of adequate cold storage facilities, rising customs tariffs, visa difficulties, and the impact of international sanctions, which have complicated bank transactions, as major challenges.
