Afghanistan defeats Angola in first match of 2024 Futsal World Cup

Afghanistan’s national futsal team secured a 6-4 victory over Angola in their opening match of the 2024 Futsal World Cup.

Afghanistan took control early, ending the first half with a 5-2 lead. Akbar Kazemi scored twice, while Omid Qanbari, Hossein Mohammadi, and Mehdi Nowruzi each added a goal for the Afghan side.

This marks Afghanistan’s debut in the Futsal World Cup.

In the second half, Angola narrowed the gap by scoring two goals, but Afghanistan found the net once more. In the closing moments of the match, Reza Hosseinpour sealed the win with a penalty, securing the team’s sixth goal.

Afghanistan is set to face Argentina and Ukraine next in Group C of the tournament.
