The Polio-Free Afghanistan organization announced that a new round of polio vaccinations for children will begin on Saturday across various regions of the country.

While the organization did not specify how many children will be vaccinated in this round, the Taliban-run Bakhtar News Agency reported that the campaign had already commenced on Thursday in Herat province.

According to the report, nearly 758,000 children under the age of five are expected to be vaccinated in Herat.

In March, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that Afghanistan had gone five consecutive months without recording a new polio case, marking a significant milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to eradicate the disease.
