Fariba Hashimi and Yuldoz Hashimi, two female cyclists from Afghanistan, participated in the women’s road cycling event at the Paris Olympics on Sunday.
Fariba Hashimi finished 75th, while her sister Yaldoz did not complete the race. Fariba completed the 158-kilometer course in 4 hours, 1 minute, and 47 seconds.
American cyclist Kristen Faulkner won the gold medal, with Marianne Vos of the Netherlands securing silver by narrowly edging out Belgium’s Lotte Kopecky. Vos’s victory makes her the fifth woman to win multiple medals in the women’s road race.
The Hashimi sisters proudly represented Afghanistan, competing against cyclists from 93 countries in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
