Afghanistan: Traffic accident in Maidan Wardak kills two

Two people died and three more were injured in a traffic accident in Maidan Wardak province, according to local Taliban officials.

Quoted by Taliban-run Bakhtar News Agency, Taliban officials said that the incident occurred on Sunday, July 14, near the Agriculture High School in Maidan Shahr City, the center of Maidan Wardak province.

The accident was reportedly caused by the overturning of a Toyota Corolla.

Traffic accidents have been on the rise across various highways in the country, resulting in dozens of fatalities in recent weeks.

Officials from the Taliban-run Traffic Department have previously stated that most of these incidents are due to drivers’ negligence and excessive speed.
