DOHA, Qatar — Rina Amiri, the U.S. special envoy for Afghanistan’s human rights, in a meeting with Lolwah Al-Khater, Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, discussed “the empowerment of Afghan women”.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry stated that the two sides reviewed bilateral relations, the situation of Afghan women, and the importance of economic stability and support for women’s empowerment initiatives within Afghanistan.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the third round of the Doha meeting, which has faced strong criticism from Afghan women’s rights and civil rights activists for excluding human rights and women’s issues from the main agenda of the negotiations.
