Kabul, Afghanistan — The Taliban’s foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, on Friday called on the United Nations to create an agenda for the upcoming Doha meeting that is acceptable to all parties involved.
Muttaqi made this appeal during a meeting with Roza Otunbayeva, head of the U.N. Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
In a statement, the Taliban-run foreign ministry’s spokesman quoted Muttaqi as saying that the Taliban has communicated its position regarding the Doha meeting and will continue to cooperate on this matter.
Otunbayeva confirmed that invitations for participation in the Doha meeting will be sent out after the agenda is finalized. She noted that the agenda is still being developed.
The Doha meeting is scheduled to take place on June 30, with various international and Afghan stakeholders expected to attend.
