Taliban urges Germany not to deport Afghan refugees to third countries

Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry

Taliban has called on Germany to address the deportation of Afghan nationals through diplomatic channels.

This statement comes in response to German officials’ plans to deport Afghans deemed “offenders.”

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, a Taliban spokesman for the Taliban-run foreign ministry, expressed hope that Germany would adhere to international conventions and refrain from deporting Afghan refugees to third countries.

“The Taliban urges German officials to resolve the issue through clear and normal consulate procedures and a rational mechanism based on bilateral agreements,” he said in a statement.

The appeal follows German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s announcement that his country’s interior ministry is in negotiations with Afghanistan’s neighboring countries to facilitate the deportation of “dangerous offenders” from Germany.
