The World Food Programme (WFP) has reported that 80,000 people affected by recent floods in Afghanistan urgently need help to rebuild their livelihoods.
The UN food agency’s Afghanistan section noted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that WFP requires $14.5 million to provide necessary assistance to these affected individuals.
Recent deadly floods in Afghanistan have resulted in the deaths of at least 350 people, with dozens more injured. UN agencies revealed that around 7,800 homes were either destroyed or damaged by the floods in northern, northeastern, and western Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, citizens and political movements have criticized the Taliban for failing to address the needs of the flood-affected population.
