Iran sends second shipment of aid to flood-hit population in Afghanistan

MAZAR-E SHARIF, Afghanistan — An Iranian aircraft carrying humanitarian aid for flood victims in northern and northeastern Afghanistan landed at Mazar-e Sharif airport in the northern Balkh province on Sunday.

This is the second shipment provided by Iran within the past week.

The aid, supplied by the Iranian Red Crescent Society, was confirmed by the Consulate General of Iran in Mazar-e Sharif.

While the consulate did not specify the quantity and types of aid, local Taliban officials reported that the shipment includes blankets, tents, and food supplies.

Afghanistan has recently experienced devastating floods, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries. Thousands of affected people are currently living in precarious conditions after the floods destroyed their homes.
