Taliban says Qatari delegation invited Muttaqi to visit Qatar

Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, invited Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to visit Qatar and emphasized the importance of their presence at the upcoming Doha meeting, according to a Taliban statement.

In the meeting, Al Khulaifi stated that the Doha meeting “will not yield significant results” without the participation of the Taliban.

According to the Taliban statement, Muttaqi clarified their stance on the upcoming Doha meeting and expressed satisfaction with the topics to be discussed, including climate change, the private sector, and drug-related issues.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not commented on the meeting but said in a statement that its delegation, in meetings with Taliban officials, urged them to “protect human rights” in Afghanistan.
