ISIS claims responsibility for attack on tourists in Bamyan

KABUL, Afghanistan — Daesh has claimed responsibility for an attack on foreign tourists and civilians in Bamiyan province.

In a statement through its Amaq News Agency, the group claimed that it targeted the foreign tourists and civilians in Bamiyan due to “sectarian reasons and the significant site of the Buddha statues that attract tourists to Afghanistan.”

Six people, including three foreign tourists and three Afghan civilians, were killed in the attack.
