Helicopter crash in Ghor kills one, injures 12, Taliban says

FIROZKOAH, Afghanistan — A military helicopter crashed into a high school building in Firozkoh, the provincial capital of Ghor in western Afghanistan, according to local sources.

The incident occurred as the helicopter was transitioning from Herat to Ghor, under circumstances that remain unclear.

The helicopter reportedly collided with the building of Sultan Shahabuddin Ghori High School in Firozkoh.

Taliban said that one person was killed and 12 were injured in the helicopter crash.

According to Abdul Wahid Hamas, a Taliban spokesman for Balkh province, the helicopter was dispatched for a rescue mission to aid individuals stranded in the Harirud River after their car was submerged.

Hamas reported that the crash occurred during an emergency landing in Feroz Koh, prompted by technical issues.
