Former MP Allah Gul Mujahid detained by Taliban on murder charges

Taliban has identified Allah Gul Mujahid, a former member of the previous Afghan government’s parliament, as a suspect in a murder case and have detained him on these charges.

Khaled Zadran, a spokesman for the Taliban’s security command in Kabul, stated on X that Mujahid is suspected in the killing of an individual named Saeedullah, who died on Feb. 28.

According to Zadran, based on a Taliban court order, Allah Gul Mujahid’s freedoms have been ‘restricted,’ and he will remain in custody until the investigation is completed.

Mujahid went to Iran and Turkey after the fall of the previous government in Afghanistan in August 2021. He was harassed and detained by the Taliban in the early days after the fall of Kabul. Mujahid returned to the country from Iran after contact with a Taliban commission.
